Lashes, grays and wrinkles … OH MY

Hmmmmm- I am getting older – it’s real. You can only pretend you are the young, cute one for so long. That said I do love to strive to be young and as hot as I can be.

This summer I was very busy traveling not only personally but work and dance. There were three weeks I had continual travel. I landed in Minneapolis and swore I had left my eyelashes in New York city. I am a total eyelash girl. It’s way easier to bat your eyes. I worked with what I had throughout the summer. At my company convention I asked the amazing makeup artist Yvette – where the heck my eyelashes were? And the answer was not what I wanted to hear! Your eyelashes get thinner as you get older! Say WHAT!!! Ummmm is she implying I am getting older. She did also mention that continually wearing makeup was not helping. She suggested I take a few months off from mascara… (squinty eyes) I decided to take actions into my own hands. So I did some research and ordered Latisse. It is a dropper of liquid that helps strengthen and thicken lashes. And I must say I am super happy to report that it worked for me. My eyelashes grew back and are thicker and longer than before. To check out more about Latisse here is the website. Please know I am obviously not a doctor and you should only use products you feel good about.

The good news is I don’t just have one lash secret weapon but two. An amazing friend of mine started working at the direct selling company Younique. I checked it out and they have a product to lengthen lashes. Of course I did have lashes on the brain. A few months later on Facebook I saw someone who I knew that was selling Younique. I decided to order from her website and check it out. You apply mascara and then brush fibers over the eyelashes that attach to the mascara and give them a longer look. So far I love it! It does take a few more moments in the morning but if you have seen me lately you may notice my super spectacular batty eyelashes.

So I have some sneaky little grays peaking through. I saw a quote on Pinterest saying it’s not gray hair it’s sparkle coming through. I’m not buying it… If I want some sparkle I’ll get a new bracelet or smile bigger.. There are those amazing woman who can rock gray hair. My grandmother was one of those people, Lynn Longaberger is also one of those rockstars. Guys are also super hot and distinguished with gray. But not this girlie.

So I’ve always been brave and crazy and I color my hair myself. At some point this may become unmanageable. I use semi permanent that washes out in 24 washes. I think permanent is  hard on your hair and is more of a commitment. There isn’t a certain brand I’m committed too, aslong as it covers the silver sparkle.

Wrinkles are a serious selfie problem. I used to tell people wrinkles were just because I was so happy. The more you smile, the more lines. Now I think they are a little out of control. There are four things I think can help work and minimize this super big issue! Not all of these things are things I’m great about doing, but I’m always working to be my best.

  1. Always take your makeup off before you go to sleep.
  2. Lotion in the morning and cream at night. When I find my favorite magic potion .. I will let you know!
  3. Water.. Water.. Water.. So good to keep your body hydrated – ( if you know me – no comment)
  4. No sunshine.. Sunscreen and hats! This is a hard one for me because I love the sunshine! Young dancer friends- this includes tanning! When I was your age I tanned all the time, don’t do it….

I’m really impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog.
Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself?
Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this
    one today.

I’m older than you and I don’t have the courage to color my hair at home, so I’ve paid to have this done professionally for years. One day a couple years ago I decided it was time to “Let It Go” and embrace my grey to save money. I’m so glad I did. There wasn’t much difference at first but now I have a little more at the temples. Looking in the mirror on day, I saw my Mom when she was my age. I’m good with that. I’m even better with it now that she passed away 3 months ago as it helps me hold her a little closer to my heart.

I’ve heard about unique and now that I’ve read a testimonial from someone I trust, I may have to give it a try.

    Thanks for sharing!
