Thirteen years ago I moved back to my hometown of Newark, Ohio from the big city of Boston and started working for Longaberger. I was a baby then, but thought I had experienced so much the big world had to offer.
I first interviewed with Anita Rector and Dan Mitchel. I interviewed as the choreographer for the Homestead and the foyer shows. They did have to somewhat trust me and go out on a limb because at the time I was eight months pregnant. (pregnant how I spent much of my time at Longaberger).
I was hired and back at home. I started getting a concept of Longaberger and the sales field. I gained confidence and soon Anita offered me a role as the Entertainment supervisor. At this time in my life there were many things happening. I had gotten divorced, was enrolled in college classes full time and I was working full time. I started gaining more confidence in who I was because of school and my job at Longaberger. I learned who I was, to stand my ground and that my life was my own.
My oldest children were my little ones at the time and they loved Longaberger. The Homestead was a magical place. There was music on the street and balloons in their hands. They believed I took care of the costume characters and that my job was to feed them everyday, and of course I played into that.
Many of you know my story. I went to school for SEVEN years while raising two children and got married. Claire started working for me and I had the privilege of getting to know Tami. She came to Claire’s shows and watched me emcee and interact with the Sales Field. She asked me to come and join the sales team. I let her know I was finishing school and she said the job will be waiting for you. Which shows what kind of company this is.
I joined the sales team, and met thousands of amazing women and a few amazing men. Direct Selling and Longaberger were everything I believed in. Making your way, dreaming big, having control of your future and helping people grow and reach their goals. I always said I learned more in the field than any meeting I was in at the Big Basket.
My family grew and I traveled the country huge and waddling. I think I was pregnant so much people were confused on how many children I had and when I was ready to have another one. But they all of them embraced me and had parenting tips, as well as letting me know how I could keep it from happening again. Emerson and Mason learned to love Longaberger andthey love coming to the Basket.
I have had many roles at Longaberger. The amazing thing about the Basket is you have the opportunity to learn and do anything. I think at this point, I have done everything from costume character, motivator, trainer, event planner, marketing, and social media. The best role that I have had in the Lonagberger company is friend and extended family member. Not only did you watch me grow up, I watched and learned from all of you. There is not one person in this company that I did not learn from or that did not help or shape the woman I am today.
So with this I must let you know I am onto my next big adventure. Ready to learn and grow in new ways. Many of you know that I always love having a full plate and adding to it.
I believe in all of you and in this company more than you could possibly imagine. It is time for you to all believe. You have the ability to do great things! Stop with the obstacles and excuses and if you believe make it happen. You will have no bigger cheerleader! And I will watch you every step of the way.
I am a girl who doesn’t like goodbyes. In fact I think perhaps I do not believe in them. You were and are in my life for a reason and I hope that you stay! I have said I have a friend in every state who would come and rescue me on the side of the road and I hope that that is still true.
I have been known as the unicorn and rainbow girl inthe Basket. So I do hope when you see a rainbow you think of me -even if it’s just for a moment.
Love you so Much always! K
